Use eligibility (short-term rental, accessory units) from the ordinance only

Lesson 3 of 6 · Buy the classification

1 · Learn the move · Constraints + negative instructions

Eligibility for a short-term rental or an accessory unit is where land buyers most often buy a rumour. A neighbour runs one, a rental site shows three nearby, the seller says the town allows them. None of that is a record. The ordinance is, along with any registration rule it points to and any recorded covenant on the parcel, and each of the three can say no on its own. So this lesson is built out of what the model must not use. It must not infer eligibility from nearby activity, which may be unregistered or older than the rule. It must not supply a typical cap, separation distance or occupancy rule. It must not treat silence in the ordinance as permission. What remains is narrow and valuable: for each use, the ordinance's conditions quoted, the parcel facts that meet or miss them, and the record still needed. Covenants are a title question, and a parcel can clear the ordinance and still be barred by a deed restriction nobody pasted.

For each use below, list the ordinance's conditions word for word, then what my parcel records show against each. Do NOT infer eligibility from neighbouring rentals or what the seller said. Do NOT supply any cap, distance or occupancy rule not quoted. Silence in the ordinance reads [NEEDS: the planner's written reading], never yes. [ordinance sections] [parcel records] [seller's claim]

2 · Your turn. You write the prompt

A 1.9-acre lot with an older house in the town of Kestrel Bend is offered with a line from the seller: 'guest cottage and short-term rental both allowed here, half the road does it.' Your plan to hold it depends on renting both. You have pasted the town's accessory dwelling section, its short-term rental section and the parcel card. Write the prompt that reads eligibility from the ordinance alone.

Write the prompt for this scenario as given, or swap in a real one from your own work. The score works the same either way.

Remember: the AI sees only your prompt, not this page. If the situation isn't in your prompt, it doesn't exist.

Optional. These shape the output when you run your prompt below, not your score.
